The Onica Story | Digital Drive with Stephen Garden

by | Aug 26, 2021

My friend, Stephen Garden, was the CEO of Onica, a services company designed to bring the power of cloud native technology to the masses and one of Amazon Web Services’ largest partners. In this episode of Digital Drive, we talk about his journey as a first time entrepreneur. Stephen led Onica to success where they sold to Rackspace Technology and then participated in an IPO. Fortunately, Stephen and team caught the cloud computing wave at an optimal time when the business was started in 2014. After six years, Onica grew from a few passionate AWS evangelists to 350 people, 14 offices in 4 countries helping over 1,000 customers digitally transform their products and services using the cloud. Then the acquisition by Rackspace Technology closed in 2019. Stephen started his career in the enterprise corporate world as a project manager, building physical data centers, but it was during a career break to study for an MBA at London Business School that he decided to scratch an entrepreneurial itch and leave his home in England to adventure across the pond. Stephen now spends his time doing small investments into tech startups and helping fellow entrepreneurs.
